On Friday, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel met officials from the armed forces and assured them that they would not face any difficulty in carrying out their operations in the state, reported news agency PTI.
After attending the meeting with the CM at Gandhinagar, Harsh Sanghavi, the Minister of State for Home, said the officials aimed at establishing better coordination between government departments, and armed and paramilitary forces operating in Gujarat.
During the meeting, Patel thanked the armed forces on behalf of the citizens. He also reviewed the work of all the departments to ensure that the forces do not face any difficulty in such a crucial time, Sanghavi told reporters after coming out of the meeting.
The meeting was held after the Indian Armed Forces carried out Operation Sindoor on May 7 as a retaliatory response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 people, mostly tourists, in Jammu and Kashmir. Nine terror targets were struck by the armed forces in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan during the operation.
As per a release by the Gujarat government, Kutch, Banaskantha, Patan, and Jamnagar districts, which either share the land border or are close to the land or maritime border with Pakistan, have been put on high alert, reported PTI.
During the meeting, the CM reviewed the evacuation preparedness in the border villages, civil defence activities, health services, and maintenance of communication networks in case of emergency.
Patel instructed officials to ensure the uninterrupted functioning of control rooms and emergency operation centres in all districts. He also directed the officials to arrange alternative means of communication, such as satellite phones, in case of an emergency, reported PTI.
Amid the rising tensions between India and Pakistan, Patel has asked the officials to store sufficient quantities of essential items and fuel as a precautionary measure so that the citizens do not face any problem.
He also told the armed forces that the state government will provide them with all the necessary assistance as quickly as possible, reported PTI.
In an appeal to the public, the CM urged civilians not to believe rumors and to rely on information shared by district authorities, as fake news and misinformation are rampant on the internet.
The Minister of State for Home, Harsh Sanghavi, stated that besides senior employees of various departments, including police and collectors of border districts, officials from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Border Security Force, and Coast Guard also attended the meeting.
India on Thursday night neutralised Pakistan military's attempt to hit military stations in Jammu, Pathankot, Udhampur, and some other locations with missiles and drones.
