Regional carrier Star Air on Tuesday commenced its maiden flight service to Gondia, connecting the eastern Maharashtra city with Bengaluru via Indore, reported news agency PTI.

The aviation arm of the Kolhapur-based Sanjay Ghodawat Group will operate the service thrice a week — on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays — with an 82-seater Embraer ERJ-175 aircraft in a two-class configuration of business and economy.

With this launch, Star Air has become the second airline after IndiGo to provide regional air connectivity from Gondia, a prominent tribal district in Maharashtra, PTI reported. The new service is expected to improve travel options across Maharashtra and adjoining Madhya Pradesh.

Airport Director Girishchandra Verma said that depending on passenger response, the frequency of flights could be increased.

IndiGo to start Mumbai–Copenhagen flights from October 8

IndiGo on Tuesday announced that it will launch direct flights between Mumbai and Copenhagen, Denmark, starting October 8.

The airline will operate thrice-weekly services on the route with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, leased from Norse Atlantic Airways, reported news agency ANI. With this addition, Copenhagen becomes IndiGo’s 44th international and 138th overall destination.

Passengers on the route will have the option of economy class or IndiGo’s business product, IndiGoStretch, with complimentary hot meals, beverages and access to inflight entertainment offering nearly 300 hours of content.

Bookings are now open across IndiGo’s website, mobile app and authorised travel partners.

“With growing demand for travel between India and Northern Europe, we are delighted to connect Mumbai to Copenhagen, marking IndiGo's entry into the Scandinavian region,” said Pieter Elbers, Chief Executive Officer of IndiGo.

Copenhagen, one of Northern Europe's most dynamic capitals, serves as a hub for culture, innovation, and commerce. Known for its design-led lifestyle, rich history, and sustainable city planning, the city also offers convenient onward connections to Sweden, Norway, and the greater Scandinavian region.

For Indian travellers, this direct link provides efficient access to the Nordics, while strengthening trade, education, and tourism ties between the two regions.

Passengers flying IndiGoStretch will enjoy extra legroom, reclinable seating, priority check-in, and premium amenities, specially curated for long-haul journeys, reported ANI.

With its fleet of over 400 aircraft, the airline operates more than 2,200 daily flights, connecting 90+ domestic and 40 international destinations. It inducted 58 aircraft in 2024 and catered to more than 118 million customers in 2024-25.
