Prayagraj District Court has issued a notice to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in connection with a plea filed against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for wearing army uniform during visit to Kashmir last year.

As per a report by Dainik Bhaskar, advocate Rakesh Nath Pandey had moved an application under section 156(3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (which empowers Magistrate to order investigation into a cognizable offence).

In his application, advocate Pandey submitted that PM Modi was seen wearing the army uniform in Naushera on Novemner 4, 2021; an offence punishable under Section 140 (wearing garb or carrying token used by soldier, sailor or airman) of the Indian Penal Code.

District judge Nalin Kumar Srivastava issued notice after hearing the arguments. The hearing of the case is scheduled on March 2.

Earlier Amar Ujala had reported that Pandey’s application was rejected by the Chief Judicial Magistrate Harendra Nath on December 21, 2021.

Pandey challenged the order in District Judge who issued the notice.
