Budget 2023 | Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Arrives In Parliament With Digital ‘Bahi-Khata’

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stepped out of North Block and headed towards  Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi as she gears up to present the 2023 Union Budget. The Finance Minister took a digital tablet, wrapped in a traditional ‘bahi-khata’ pouch. Sitharaman, India`s first full-time woman Finance Minister, ditched the colonial legacy of Budget briefcase and carried a digital tablet, starting from 2019. Union budget 2023-24 will also be paperless like the previous ones. Prime Minister Modi, along with other cabinet ministers also arrived in the parliament ahead of the union budget 2023. This is the FMs fifth straight Budget presentation, which will also be the last for the current Narendra Modi government ahead of the 2024 general elections.
