The Indian Navy will commission its fifth scorpene-class submarine INS ‘Vagir’ on January 23. Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar will grace the induction ceremony as the Chief Guest. These submarines are being built in India under project-75 by MDL group in collaboration with France’s M/s Naval Group. INS ‘Vagir’ commenced sea trials on Feb 01, 2022 and has completed all major trials in shortest time. At a time when China has been stepping up its presence in the Indian Ocean region. The commissioning of ‘Vagir’ will bolster the Indian Navy`s combat capability. The submarine is designed to operate in all theatres of operation, showcasing interoperability with other components of the Indian Navy.
