Opposition meet in Patna: Leaders arrive in Patna to discuss 2024 election strategy

The highly-anticipated Opposition meeting in Bihar`s Patna was hosted by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar with an aim to arrive at a consensus to forge a united Opposition front to take on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2024 Lok Sabha polls.The Opposition picked Patna as a venue for its meeting as it represents the 1974 call of total revolution by Jayaprakash Narayan that toppled Indira Gandhi’s majority government. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi while addressing the party workers at the Bihar Congress Headquarters said that it’s a face-off between Congress’ ‘Bharat Jodo’ and RSS and BJP’s ‘Bharat Todo’ ideologies. At the same time, BJP Leader Smriti Irani, while addressing a press conference said that she would especially like to thank Congress for publicly announcing that they cannot alone defeat PM Modi and that they need the support of others to do so. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Shiv Sena (UBT) Chief Uddhav Thackeray, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, NCP Chief Sharad Pawar and JKNC Vice President Omar Abdullah arrived on June 23.
