New Delhi: A US-bound non-stop Air India flight from here was diverted to Iceland's Reykjavík-Keflavík airport today due to a medical emergency. Air India flight AI-101 landed at Iceland's Reykjavík-Keflavík airport at around 1530 hours Indian time to provide medical assistance to one of the passengers onboard, from where it departed for the JFK airport in New York at 1645 hours (Indian time), an airline official said.

According to the official, a passenger, aged around 42, fell sick and was attended by a doctor onboard. The doctor advised cabin staff to land the flight at the nearest airport for an early medical assistance to the sick passenger, the official said, accordingly the aircraft was diverted to Reykjavík-Keflavík.
Upon landing, the sick passengers was rushed to the hospital. Later, the flight was airborne for its destination, New York, at around 4.45 pm (IST), the official said.
