A group of men in plain clothes hung the corpse against the wall in Kandahar for around 20 minutes before they carried it away.

Ahmed Wali Karzai was assassinated on Tuesday by the man who is said to have been from his own tribe and home town, whom he had travelled with and worked alongside for seven years.

Suicide bomber
Meanwhile, a suicide bomber blew himself up inside a mosque during a memorial service for the Afghanistan president's assassinated half brother yesterday morning.

Four people, including a young child and the head of the clerical council for Kandahar province, were killed in the blast and at least 15 people were wounded.

The bomber appears to have concealed his explosives inside a turban, before detonating the device at the packed service in southern Kandahar city.

Waheed Omer, a spokesman for Mr Karzai, said, "Our understanding at this point is that no one in the delegation from Kabul was hurt."

The attack on the Sarra Jamai or Red Mosque was the second in Kandahar city yesterday. Earlier, a bomb exploded near a police vehicle, killing one civilian.
