Mumbai Rains didn't stop Kangana Ranaut and crew to launch the trailer of their upcoming film Judgementall Hai Kya at a popular multiplex at a mall in Andheri, Mumbai. After several restrictions and hurdles due to film's title, Mental Hai Kya, the release of its trailer had got delayed. After cuts by the CBFC (Central Bureau of Certification) on the word Mental from the film and the title, the makers finally released the trailer on Tuesday evening - now titled Judgementall Hai Kya. Kangana Ranaut's team shared pictures from the event on their Instagram account and wrote, "Kangana Ranaut cannels her inner Kinky queen-meets-bondage goddess in a leather strap ensemble that is to die for. [sic]"
After the emotionally demanding role in Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi, Judgementall Hai Kya, a thriller with shades of dark humour, serves as a change of pace for Kangana Ranaut.
While the trailer sees Rajkummar Rao and Kangana Ranaut's characters engage in a battle of wits, the actor says slipping into the part of Bobby, a regional voice-over artiste, was far from easy. In a bid to essay her role to perfection, she picked up Bhojpuri dialect under the supervision of director Prakash Kovelamudi.

Kangana Ranaut talking about the same revealed to mid-day, "This is the first time that I'm playing a VO artist. In the film, my character is dubbing for a Bhojpuri movie and a few other South Indian films. That sequence leads to a lot of humour. Initially, I was struggling with the part. Prakash then directed me to [diction experts] who guided me with exercises; I had to do tongue and throat exercises to achieve the right pitch and diction. I was required to alter my accent and practise voice modulation."
Kangana Ranaut added that she dedicated two months to her prep before the Ekta Kapoor production went on floors last May. Ranaut acknowledged that Bobby has been one of the most fascinating roles to have come her way. "I prepared for Bobby as a whole, not only in terms of her occupation. She has layers and complexities to her."
Rajkummar Rao simultaneously launched Judgementall Hai Kya's trailer in New Delhi around the same time. The actor couldn't reach Mumbai, as there were a lot of flight cancellation due to heavy downpour in Mumbai.
Rajkummar Rao at the film trialer launch said he was absolutely fine with the makers' decision to change the title of Mental Hai Kya to Judgementall Hai Kya. Speaking at the film's trailer launch, Rao said the decision to change the title was taken in consultation with both the censor board and the IPS.
Rajkummar Rao said, "I was totally up for it. There are some people out there who have problems with it. We respect their emotions. If they believe that changing the title will bring some change in the society, we are more than happy to do that," the actor told reporters. "There has been a censor screening and one with the association as well and that's how we came to the conclusion that the title should be changed. We all were very happy to do that."
Rajkummar Rao further said there were many other prospective titles for the film but all found Judgementall to be the most appropriate one. "Judgementall was the only title that was going with the film. There were lot of others like sentimental, temperamental but we thought this one was the best," he said. The actor believes that controversy can never guarantee a film success if it is not well made. "I think the only reason people come to theatres and watch a movie is because of the trailer. If they liked the trailer or actors or makers, they would go and watch the film, not for any other reason I feel," he said.
With the talented Kanika Dhillon at the helm of screenwriting, the dark comedy often employs play of words to hilarious effect. Kangana Ranaut said that mastering tongue-twisters for such sequences turned out to be harder than she had imagined. Citing the one mouthed by her co-star Rao in the trailer that goes 'Jis daali par maine nazar daali, woh daali kisine kaat daali', she says, "In the film, we are playing with a lot of tongue-twisters. They provide situational comedy, and Kanika has written them with flair."
