In November 2018, Sakshi Tanwar shared the good news of adopting a baby girl named Dityaa. Sakshi considers the baby the blessing of Goddess Lakshmi and therefore named the girl Dityaa which is Goddess Lakshmi's name and means "the one who answers prayers". Sharing her happiness, Sakshi said, "With the blessings of my parents and the support of my family and friends, I have adopted a baby girl who would soon turn 9 months old. I am extremely delighted to share my happiness with you as I welcome the bundle of joy in my life. This is undoubtedly the greatest moment of my life and I and my entire family are elated to embrace Dityaa.. She is the answer to all my prayers and I feel blessed to have her in my life.."

Before foraying into showbiz, Sakshi Tanwar graduated from Lady Shri Ram College in Delhi worked as a sales trainee in a five-star hotel.
Sakshi Tanwar first faced the camera as a host of the Doordarshan TV show 'Albela Sur Mela' in 1998 for which she auditioned while pursuing her degree in Mass Communications. She shares a close bond with her parents. Her father Rajendra Singh Tanwar is a retired CBI officer.
Sakshi Tanwar forayed into TV soaps in 2000 with Ekta Kapoor's 'Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii'. Smriti Irani was the lead in another popular TV show 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' which was produced by Ekta and started the same year. Sakshi is close friends with both Kapoor and Irani.
Sakshi Tanwar achieved great success with 'Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii' during its 8-year run and became popularly known to viewers as Parvati (her character on the show).
Sakshi Tanwar has also appeared in the shows 'Kutumb', 'Devi', 'Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin', 'Balika Vadhu' among many others.
Sakshi Tanwar starred opposite Ram Kapoor in the 2011 TV show 'Bade Achhe Lagte Hain' with their chemistry being popular with viewers. The show courted controversy when Sakshi and Ram appeared in some bold scenes in an episode.
Sakshi Tanwar shared the screen with Anil Kapoor and Sikander Kher in the TV series '24'. With her appearance on the action-packed show, Sakshi has succeeded in exploring several genres in the small screen world.
