Lisa Haydon made her Bollywood debut in 2010 with Sonam Kapoor's Aisha. Apparently, Lisa was spotted by Anil Kapoor in a coffee shop and soon her agent received a phone call for a role in the film.
Aisha was loosely based on the Jane Austen novel Emma and its Hollywood adaptation Clueless, and she was offered to play the role of Aarti Menon, a New-York returned corporate woman.
After signing the movie, Lisa Haydon went to New York City for three months to learn method acting and also received classes on diction in Mumbai.
After Aisha, Lisa Haydon also played a brief role in Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt and Kangana Ranaut's Rascals.
In 2014, Lisa Haydon appeared in the coming-of-age dramedy, Queen, alongside Kangana Ranaut. In Queen, Lisa played Vijayalakshmi, a single mother who has a child out of wedlock. Her performance in Queen was praised by critics.
Lisa Haydon was next seen in The Shaukeens, a remake of the 1982 film Shaukeen opposite Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher, Annu Kapoor and Piyush Mishra. The film was a commercial failure, but the song that Lisa Haydon sizzled in - Manali Trance - became a hit party track.
In 2016, Lisa Haydon starred in three films - Santa Banta Pvt Ltd, Housefull 3 and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Though the first one flopped at the box office, the other two were super-hits and Lisa too had prominent roles in the films.
Lisa Haydon's role in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil alongside Ranbir Kapoor was applauded by the audience. Her epic dialogue 'Vaaa-taa-varan' is still popular.
Lisa Haydon has mostly portrayed atypical roles in Bollywood films. When asked if she finds it difficult to fit in as the quintessential Bollywood heroine, she told in an interview, "I am not sure what the quintessential Bollywood heroine is because there are such varied films and roles that are coming out these days. I am really happy with the films that I have done and I really hope I get to do a lot more in the future."
Lisa Haydon appeared as the host and judge of the first cycle of India's Next Top Model on MTV India.
Very few know that Lisa Haydon is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer and has trained with Shiamak Davar for five years.
On the personal front, Lisa Haydon got married in 2016. Her husband Dino Lalvani is the son of Pakistan-born British entrepreneur Gullu Lalvani. The couple got married after dating for a year.
Lisa Haydon welcomed her first child - son Zack Lalvani in 2017. Asked about how motherhood has helped her evolve, Lisa said: "I don't think you can escape evolution. When you become a mother, so many things change. For one, your priorities change in a major way, and then you have to learn how to juggle things a lot better while still being true to yourself and being the best parent you possibly can. But it certainly has given me a different perspective on things. It really brings into focus what's truly important in life and that is love, of course."
Lisa Haydon is perfectly balancing her personal and professional life. "I think it balances itself quite evenly with the fact that once I got married and had my baby, I automatically took up different responsibilities and my priorities shifted slightly. Of course, I still love my job and I still love to go to work. It is something I never want to give up," said Lisa Haydon, whose first tryst with showbiz was through the modelling world.
In fact, trying to work out her time between home and work gives joy to Lisa. "It brings me a lot of happiness to be a working-professional mom. I think it's just about making the most wherever you are and picking the best jobs and sticking with it and not doing filler jobs," she added.
From being a model and actor to a mother, Lisa says that having a child emphasises the need for schedules and organisation. "It also becomes quite natural to pick and choose what is most important and then make time only for that as the stakes are higher," said Lisa who also says that one of the self-realisations that pregnancy had on her is that "pancakes taste best with a squeeze of lemon and powdered sugar".
Lisa Haydon has been an inspiration for many mothers out there as within months of giving birth to her son Zack, she was back to her super shape.
