Thirty one people are killed and at least 75 have been injured in a huge fire at a fire-crackers factory in Mudalipetti, near Sivakasi, in Tamil Nadu. There are fears that the toll could rise. 31 people, including 11 children, were crushed to death in Thane on the outskirts of Mumbai after a building collapsed while under construction on Thursday evening. 50 people have been rescued, but some are still believed trapped in the debris. At least 12 people are feared to be buried in the debris after three houses collapsed following a landslide in Dabhol village of Maharashtra's Ratnagiri district. The landslide is said to have taken place at 3: 30 a.m. due to heavy rainfall. The rescue operations are on and the NDRF teams are on their way. Further details are awaited.
