Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 09 held a roadshow in Tamil Nadu’s Chennai ahead of the LS Polls 2024. State BJP President K Annamalai also accompanied him during the mega rally. A massive crowd holding the flags of BJP turned up for the roadshow to show their support for PM Modi. Polling for all 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu will be held on April 19 and results will be declared on June 04. “As usual, every time Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji comes to Chennai, the people of Chennai welcome our honorable PM as their own son... Today is one such day. In a historic roadshow, the people of Chennai have welcomed Narendra Modi Ji with open arms... The mood of Chennai, the mood of Tamil Nadu, is very clear... Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri announced a new oil discovery in the country. Hardeep Singh Puri said that the first oil was extracted yesterday 30 kilometres off the coast of Kakinada in the Krishna Godavari Basin. Hardeep Singh Puri said, “30 kilometres off the coast of Kakinada in the Krishna Godavari Basin, the first oil was extracted yesterday. Work started on this in 2016-17, then there were some delays due to COVID, but I'm sure that out of the 26 wells there, 4 wells are already operational. We will not only have gas also in a very short period but by May and June, we hope to be able to produce 45,000 barrels per day, which will be 7 per cent of our total crude oil production and 7 per cent of our gas production.” Narendra Taneja said, “This is a huge step. They first conduced a search operation in deep sea near Krishna-Godavari Basin and then started production. We have now started 47,000 barrels of ONGC production from there. In future, it will be 75000 barrels.” The place where the oil is extracted is 30 kilometres off the coast of Kakinada in the Krishna Godavari basin. Phase 3, leading to peak oil and gas production from the basin, is already underway and likely to be over in June 2024. The 98/2 project is likely to increase Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC)'s total Oil and Gas production by 11 per cent and 15 per cent respectively. India, the world's third-biggest oil importer and consumer, is dependent on crude oil from various sources in the global market to meet its domestic demand.

At least 1,100 people lost their lives as the conflict between Israel and Hamas militant group escalated. As per Reuters, at least 700 Israelis and 400 Palestinians were killed so far in the ongoing war. The Israel Air Force has launched lethal air strike in Gaza Strip with fighter jets attacking areas used by Hamas terrorists. The retaliation came after the Hamas’ surprise attack on Israel that claimed hundreds of lives and left thousands injured. Earlier, Hamas fired a barrage of rockets into the southern and central parts of the Israel. Several Israelis were taken as hostages in Gaza, the Times of Israel reported citing officials. There is fighting and heroic battles to save hostages, going on hours since October 7. Fighting between Israeli security forces and Haman gunmen continued in several places 24 hours after their incursion. Also, Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed vengeance and said that Israel will turn Hamas into “rubble”.
