PM Modi attended a programme marking 'Veer Baal Diwas 2023’ at the state-of-the-art Bharat Mandapam on Dec 26. Last year, on the Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Gobind Singh, PM Modi announced that Dec 26 would be marked as 'Veer Bal Diwas'. The day honours the sacrifices of “Sahibzade”, four sons of Guru Gobind Singh. The youngest sons Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh were bricked alive in a wall. Speaking at the event, PM Modi said their sacrifices are not only being remembered in India but also globally through programmes in countries like the United States, Australia and New Zealand. Govt would also organise participatory events across India to inform people about the courage of Sahibzade.

He talked about India’s diplomatic ties and without mentioning, he slammed the countries condemning India’s energy purchases from Russia. He said, “Diplomacy, international relations, good ties, friendships, are not about giving other people a say in your choice. Our choice must be our choice. However, difficult it is. When it came to our energy purchases, our national choices and national interest, were supposed to be subservient to the political correctness of other countries, who by the way, had made their own arrangements.”

The full dress rehearsal of the Republic Day Parade was held at Kartavya Path in Delhi, in which personnel from the Army, Air Force, Navy and Paramilitary forces participated on Monday. Twenty-three tableaux from 17 states and various departments of the government took part in the rehearsal.
