The Indian Navy on January 27 doused the fire on Marshall Islands-flagged oil tanker Marlin Luanda. The vessel was struck by a Houthi anti-ship missile in the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Navy responded quickly. According to Reuters, the tanker was on fire but no deaths or injuries were reported after the vessel was hit. Indian Navy’s guided missile destroyer INS Visakhapatnam deployed in Gulf of Aden responded to the distress call. The vessel had 22 Indian and 1 Bangladeshi crew onboard. Based on request, the firefighting team comprising 10 Indian Naval personnel embarked the vessel in early hours. Notably, Yemen’s Houthi militants have launched waves of exploding drones and missiles at vessels post Israel’s attack in Gaza.

The eliminated militant Wail Asfa was the commander of Deir al-Balah Battalion in the Central Camps Brigade. ‘Chandrayaan 3’ successfully underwent a planned orbit reduction manoeuvre on August 09. The retrofiring of engines has brought ‘Chandrayaan 3’ closer to the Moon's surface, now to 174 km x 1437 km. The next operation to further reduce the orbit is scheduled for August 14 at around 12 am. A retro-burning at the Perilune was commanded from the Mission Operations Complex (MOX), ISTRAC, Bengaluru. Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft is continuing its circuitous journey to the moon with a series of burns to raise its orbit.

After the controversy over Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena's advertisement that was released on Tuesday, another ad has been published on Wednesday. The Shiv Sena-led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde raised eyebrows on Tuesday by putting out an advertisement citing a survey which showed that Shinde was the most popular choice for the state's top political job rather than his deputy Devendra Fadnavis. Whatever the intentions of Shinde's Shiv Sena in publishing the ad, it gave enough fodder to the Opposition to get back at the ruling alliance. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut lambasted Shinde for not using the picture of Balasaheb Thackeray or mentioning him anywhere in the ad. Nationalist Congress Party MP Supriya Sule turned the numbers in the ad against Shinde. She said that if only 46.4% people preferred the BJP and Shiv Sena parties combined, it means majority of the people were against them.

One person was injured after a bomb explosion reportedly occurred near the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Monday, 8 May. The blast took place on the Heritage Street, located outside the Golden Temple. Mehtab Singh, ADCP of Amritsar, while addressing the press, said. This is the second crude bomb blast in the vicinity of the Golden Temple in nearly 30 hours. The incident happened at around 6.30 am. The first blast took place near the Bansal sweet shop on Saturday night. The second blast occurred near the same spot but on the opposite side. The police have cordoned off the area and began an investigation.
