Supreme Court of India praises India’s growing economy as robust

The Supreme Court praised the growing Indian economy as robust and recognised in the world. The Supreme Court’s observation came while hearing the suit filed by Kerala Government against Centre. The Kerala Govt accused the Centre of not allowing it to borrow more money to meet its needs. Justices Surya Kant, KV Vishwanathan were hearing Kerala Govt’s plea raising the grave financial crisis. The Supreme Court remarked that India's economy is robust and is recognised in the entire world. Notably, India is currently the fifth largest economy of the world and visions to become the third largest soon. PM Modi has exuded confidence in returning to power and making the nation third-largest economy. External Affairs Minister also recently said that the country will soon move to grab the third position.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni assured Benjamin Netanyahu of Italy’s support for Israel. Since the war began on Oct 07, thousands of people have lost their lives in the deadly conflict. More than 4,385 Gazans and at least 1,400 Israelis have been killed till now, according to Reuters.

India's defence staff perform firepower demonstration at Pokhran

 Brazilian Army General Tomas Miguel Paiva witnessed India's military capability in Rajasthan’s Pokhran. The firepower demonstration in Pokhran was carried out by the Indigenous Weapon Systems. Several Indigenous Weapon Systems including Arjun tanks and ALH Dhruv showcased their valour. The Brazilian Army General also witnessed the demonstration of Akash Missile system capabilities. But, as demonetisation was to be done in a limited time, he gave reluctant permission for it. PM never considered Rs 2000 note as a note of the poor, he knew Rs 2000 has hoarding value instead of the transactional value,” said Nripendra Misra.

The Supreme Court on Monday affirmed the Narendra Modi government's demonetisation move in 2016, stating there was no flaw in the decision making process. Justice BR Gavai read out the majority view on behalf of himself and justices SA Nazeer, AS Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian.The top court said the Centre had the power to demonetise all series of a bank note, adding the November 8, 2016 decision can't be said to be unreasonable nor was it hit by the doctrine of proportionality. The Supreme Court said it is not relevant whether the objective behind the decision was achieved or not. Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram, who had appeared on behalf of the petitioners, welcomed the dissenting judgment, calling it a slap on the wrist of the government. The Congress and BJP have differences in opinion regarding the SC verdict on demonetization.
