Bollywood's power couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh have finally announced that they are expecting their first child. Sharing an adorable post on Instagram the duo revealed that their baby will arrive in September 2024. Six members of an independent fact-finding committee, on their way to Sandeshkhali, were arrested at Bhojerhat in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district on February 25. Following the arrest, the committee members were brought to PHQ Lal Bazaar Kolkata. The Fact-Finding Committee members were stopped by police at Bhojerhat, South 24 Parganas, while they were proceeding to the trouble-torn Sandeshkhali area in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas to investigate alleged incidents of atrocities and Sandeshkhali violence on women there. Saikat Ghosh, Deputy Commissioner, Bhangar Division, Kolkata Police, said while speaking to the media, “We were requesting them to not cross from here, but they were trying to break the police barricade unlawfully. So, we had to arrest them under Preventive Sections. If there is information of a ‘breach of peace’, police can arrest them under preventive sections.” Narasimha Reddy, Former Chief Justice of Patna High Court, said, “We sat here but it seems they've a problem with this also. Now, we will seek the appointment of the governor and explain the situation to him. Later we'll talk about this to the Ministry of Home Affairs in Delhi...”

Israel-Hamas Conflict: IDF resumed combat operations against Hamas after accusing latter of violating a temporary truce. Soon after Hamas fired missiles toward Israeli territory, IDF ‘restarted’ combat operations against militant group. In the hour before the truce was set to end, Hamas-affiliated media also reported sounds of explosions and gunfire in Gaza. The seven-day pause began on November 24 and was extended twice, allowing for the exchange of dozens of hostages. IDF on November 13 shared a chilling video of a Hamas tunnel leading to the basement of a hospital. IDF Spokesperson Daniel Hagari said that the tunnel led to the place where several Israelis were held hostage. He showed how power was being supplied to the basement through the tunnel and the stockpile kept inside. Displaying the signs of hostages being kept in the basement, Daniel showed women’s clothes, ropes, diapers and bottles. Since the war broke out, Hamas has been accused of using civilians of Gaza as a shield. Reuters cited its sources claiming that Hamas has around 40,000 fighters. They can move around the enclave using a vast web of fortified tunnels, hundreds of kilometers long up to 80 meters deep. The Israeli military has intensified ground operations inside the besieged Gaza Strip. With the intensification of the ground ops by Israel, ceasefire is nowhere near sight.

IDF released footage of the Israeli Navy’s Hebrew YALTAM unit’s underwater mission on November 13. In a major development, YALTAM recovered weapons left behind by Hamas terrorists in the sea from the Oct 7 onslaught. YALTAM scuba forces scanned the seabed in recent days, finding firearms, explosive devices, ammunition, and rubber dinghies. The weapons were brought to the coast where they were later destroyed by the Combat Engineering Corps’ elite Yahalom unit. The commander of the unit stated that the weapons were found underwater after an infiltration attempt by Hamas into Israel at Zikim beach. Notably, IDF continues its operations to neutralise Hamas’ weapons that might harm the civilians.

Days after the successful soft landing of Chandaryaan 3, Pragyan rover has traversed over 100 meters. Taking to X, ISRO shared the information and said the rover traversed over 100 meters and continuing. Earlier on August 31, rover was seen rotating in search of a safe route on the surface of the moon. ISRO shared the first observation from the ChaSTE payload onboard Vikram Lander. ChaSTE measured the temp profile of lunar topsoil around the pole, to understand the thermal behaviour of moon’s surface. Notably, ISRO also launched its maiden solar mission ‘Aditya-L1’ from Sriharikota on September 02. ‘Aditya-L1’ is India’s first space-based Indian observatory mission to study the Sun. Spacecraft is carrying 7 payloads to observe the photosphere, chromosphere, and outermost layers of Sun. The total travel time from the launch pad to L1 will take about four months for ‘Aditya-L1’.
