As Pakistanis wait for the Pakistan elections 2024 results, several protests have rocked Pakistan. Pakistan’s general election on Feb 08 was marred by militant attacks, suspension of mobile phones and killing of several people. Imran Khan’s PTI and Nawaz Sharif’s PML-N are in neck-to-neck competition as Imran Khan and Nawaz Sharif both declared victory in the elections. Amid the delay of election results, as per the Pakistan Election Commission independents backed by former PM Imran Khan won the most seats. Independent candidates of Imran Khan had won 100 seats, with Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) taking 72 seats. The polls were held for 265 Pakistan National Assembly seats, a party need 133 seats for a simple majority. Analysts predicted there may be no clear winner, adding problems to country’s economic crisis amid the polarised political environment. As per Dawn, PML-N and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) are proceeding to form a coalition govt in the Centre, Punjab, and Balochistan. Meanwhile, as per Reuters, candidates backed by the party of jailed Imran Khan plan to form a govt, an aide to the former PM said on Feb 10.

The State Department of the United States has issued a travel advisory for its citizens in or traveling to Pakistan. The US has advised its citizens to be vigilant ahead of Pakistan general elections 2024 scheduled for Feb 08. In the advisory, the State Department has highlighted potential disruptions and safety concerns during political activities of Pakistan Elections 2024. It also mentioned that in some instances, political activities in Pakistan have been targeted for violence.

Amid the Israel-Hamas war, the West and the Middle East are concerned about the growing conflict. The US has sent warships and fighter aircraft to the region over the last three weeks when the conflict started. Now the US has claimed that its troops have been attacked at least 12 times in Iraq, and 4 times in Syria in the past week. In retaliation, two US fighter jets struck weapons, and ammunition facilities in Syria on October 27. As per the Pentagon, the attacks were carried out on the orders of US President Joe Biden. The US launched airstrikes against the facilities used by Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps and militia, which it backs.

Throughout its presidency, India has been making a strong pitch for the countries which are not a part of the G20 grouping. Nine nations, which are not a part of the group, were invited for the G20 Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi. Bangladesh, Egypt, Mauritius, Netherlands, Nigeria, Oman, Singapore, Spain and UAE were invited to the G20 New Delhi Summit.
