Taking a jibe at Congress’ top leadership, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on April 30 called it a failed leadership. "The leadership of the Congress has completely failed and you must be seeing that their people are continuously leaving the field. At some places, their state president is resigning and at some places their declared candidates are themselves withdrawing their candidature and joining the BJP and at some places, they are deliberately filling out the nomination papers incompletely. The people of this country know the reality of the leaders of Congress, Samajwadi Party and INDI alliance and the people of this country will never allow their plans to be fulfilled,” said CM Yogi. “There cannot be a bigger lie than this. Everyone is very well aware of the history of Congress and other INDI alliance parties. The history of Congress has been of strangulating the Constitution made by Babasaheb Ambedkar. The Constitution of the country came into force in 1950 and Congress has continuously trampled on the freedom of expression, it has continuously made efforts to change the Constitution in its own way. The people of the country have not forgotten the Emergency,” he added.

"...First of all, I would like to appeal to the voters to elect a party that stands on its words - for secure and prosperous country and welfare of the poor...After the Congress manifesto was released, people's inclination towards the BJP further increased because, in its manifesto, Congress has repeated its old habit of appeasement. Congress manifesto speaks of taking forward Personal Law. I would like to ask Rahul Gandhi; will this country now work as per Sharia?... Our Constitution is secular, laws of the land can't be formed on the basis of religion. BJP has clearly said in its manifesto that it will bring the Uniform Civil Code (UCC)...We scrapped Triple Talaq and started UCC & we will take this forward. Rahul Gandhi speaks of Personal Law, which is about dividing the country...Personal Laws can't be implemented in this country".
