After the death of gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, Samajwadi Party leader and Mukhtar’s brother Afzal Ansari on March 31 accused the BJP government of Uttar Pradesh, the Police department of the state, and many other officials and leaders of being behind the planning of his brother’s death. He said that Mukhtar was poisoned to death since the leaders in power were jealous of the Ansari family’s history of freedom struggle. “The government, to cover up its crime, took the help of the media declared Mukhtar fit, and sent him to jail from the hospital. They appointed him a surgeon while there was no surgery case. God will do justice. Because of this cruel murder, the confidence in the BJP among the people of the country and state is finished. Gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari's brother Afzal Ansari on March 30 alleged the Uttar Pradesh government of killing his brother with poison. He said that he would prove the poisoning of his brother when the time comes. "Mukhtar Ansari has been killed and removed out of the way. When the time comes, we will give strong proof that he was killed with poison... To save some criminals, the whole government and its machinery have done a huge conspiracy. They have no shame... On March 26, Mukhtar Ansari was sent to the Medical College from the Banda jail... The Superintendent said that he was sent because the doctors suggested that... We received a message at 3 am that Mukhtar Ansari's condition is serious... When we reached the hospital, we were allowed to meet with difficulty, only for 5 minutes... During the 5-minute meeting, Mukhtar Ansari said that he had been poisoned and because of that he had fainted. He said that he was in extreme pain. He said that he had fainted and shifted to the hospital in that condition," said Afzal Ansari.

Uttar Pradesh Congress Chief and brother of deceased Awadhesh Rai, Ajai Rai on March 30, said that the court must take strict action against the demise of gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari. While speaking to ANI, he said that Court must take strict action in the matter as Mukhtar Ansari was under the remand of the Court. “According to our Hindu mythology, it is not right to comment on the deceased. The way things came out the judicial system gave us justice. I am grateful to the judicial system for its verdict of my Brother’s murderer… Things that are coming ahead the government must investigate in the matter. If he is under the Court’s remand, then the court must take strict action in the matter,” said Ajai Rai.

The funeral procession of Mukhtar Ansari, the former gangster-turned-politician, commenced from his Mohammadabad residence amidst tight security. A large crowd gathered to bid farewell to him. Mukhtar Ansari is slated to be buried in Mohammadabad, located in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur district. Police presence has been increased around the burial site to ensure law and order as mourners pay their final respects. Ansari passed away due to a cardiac arrest on March 28, although his family alleges foul play, suspecting poisoning in his food.

Shailendra Singh, a former Uttar Pradesh DSP, spoke to ANI and refuted all allegations made by the deceased's family that Ansari was poisoned. Additionally, he claimed that Mukhtar Ansari had a positive experience during his service in a prison in Punjab and asserted that he enjoyed the support of the Congress party. Shailendra Singh also addressed the opposition's comments on Ansari's death, suggesting that they will inevitably question the circumstances, particularly given the timing amidst elections. Jailed gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari passed away on Mar 28 following a cardiac arrest. Mukhtar Ansari took his last breath at Banda Medical College Hospital in Uttar Pradesh. Following his death, people in large numbers gathered outside the politician’s residence in Ghazipur. The police also conducted a flag march and issued alerts across the state to prevent any untoward incidents following Ansari's death. Security arrangements have been beefed up in several parts of UP after the demise. However, Umar Ansari, the son of Mukhtar Ansari, alleged conspiracy in father’s death.

Former Maharashtra chief minister Manohar Joshi passed away at the age of 86. Reportedly, he suffered a cardiac arrest on 21st February, Thursday and was immediately admitted to the ICU of P D Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai. Manohar Joshi passed away at around 3am on Friday due to age-related health complications. The news was confirmed by P D Hinduja Hospital chief operating officer Joy Chakravarty. Manohar Joshi had been suffering from health issues since May 2023. He suffered a brain hemorrhage, the previous year and since then his health wasn't in good shape. Born in Raigad district of Maharashtra in a Brahmin family, Joshi did his master of Arts and LLB from Mumbai University. He began his political career by being elected to the Legislative Council and served three terms from 1972 to 1989. He also became the Mayor of Mumbai from 1976 to 1977. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly from a Shiv Sena ticket in 1990. He served as CM of Maharashtra from 1995-1999. He was elected for a six-year term to the Rajya Sabha on 20 March 2006 after being defeated in the previous Lok Sabha election in the Central Mumbai constituency.
