On Shivaji’s birth anniversary, people performed ‘Aarti’ and celebrated the occasion. People in Nagpur, Maharashtra, gathered in large numbers on the streets and offered Aarti as a part of celebrations of the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Per the Gregorian calendar, the state observes Shivaji Jayanti with an annual public holiday on February 19. Nonetheless, a sizable population of Maharashtrians commemorate the event on the third day of Phalgun in the Hindu calendar.
