The Indian Air Force has inducted the Rampage long-range supersonic air-to-ground missiles which can hit targets at around 250 Km. The missile known as the High-Speed Low Drag-Mark 2 missile in the Indian Air Force was reportedly used in a big way by the Israeli Air Force during its recent attacks on Iranian targets. The Indian Navy has also inducted the missile in its fleet for the MiG-29K naval fighter jets, they said. The stand-off weapon will give Indian fighter pilots the option of engaging and taking out targets like communication centres or radar stations, the sources said. The procurement was part of the emergency powers given by the Defence Ministry to the armed forces to equip themselves with critical weapons and equipment after the standoff with China started in 2020. The missiles have a longer range than the Spice-2000s used in the Balakot air strikes in 2019.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on April 27 slammed Congress over politicization of Electronic Voting Machines. Slamming Congress, UP CM said that the people who are rejecting EVMs today are the same people who used to loot ballots. Amid the Israel-Iran conflict, tensions in the Middle East surged as Iran launched over 200 projectiles at Israel, purportedly in retaliation for a suspected Israeli strike on its consulate in Syria. Iran issued warnings of even stronger actions against Israel. Prime Minister Netanyahu of Israel pledged both defensive and offensive responses, citing years of preparedness for direct Iranian aggression. The US would welcome any country interested in using its voice to further deter the Russian offensive in Ukraine and play a positive role in helping release hostages and defeating Hamas amid the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip, US State Department Principal Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel said at a press briefing on April 18. Asked how the US and the international community can use Prime Minister Narendra Modi's influence to end the ongoing war worldwide, Patel said, “Specifically, first in the context of Russia-Ukraine, if any country is interested in using its voice to further deter Russian aggression on the people of Ukraine, we certainly would welcome that and in the current ongoing context in Gaza, any country that believes that they can play a positive role in helping us get to a release of hostages, helping us get additional humanitarian assistance into Gaza, and helping to defeat Gaza, they certainly should and are welcome to play that role.”

Across the country, Hindus are celebrating the festival of Ram Navami on April 17. A large number of devotees thronged Ram Temple in Ayodhya to take the blessings of Ram Lalla. Ram Lalla is expected to be gifted with ‘Surya Abhishek’ at noon when the rays of the Sun fall on his forehead. Elaborate arrangements were made in the Ram Temple as it is the first Ram Navami after the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony which happened on January 22. Devotees are also visiting the Hanuman Garhi temple in Ayodhya to offer prayers on the occasion. Ram Navami is one of the most celebrated festivals by the Hindu community that commemorates the birth anniversary of Lord Rama. The day holds special significance among Hindus which falls on the ninth day of Chaitra month, the first month in the Hindu lunar calendar.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) sources have learnt that there are 17 Indian nationals onboard cargo ship ‘MSC Aries’ has been taken control by Iran. India is in touch with the Iranian authorities through diplomatic channels, both in Tehran and in Delhi, to ensure security, welfare and early release of Indian nationals, the sources added. The conflict has intensified in West Asia after suspected Israeli airstrikes on Iran’s consulate in Syria's capital Damascus and Tehran’s warning of retaliation. A map showed the path of an Israeli-linked cargo ship, the MSC Aries, that had been seized between the United Arab Emirates and Iran, in the Persian Gulf, situated close to the Strait of Hormuz, on Saturday (April 13). The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) posted a warning on social media after having received a report on the vessel and said it had been “seized by regional authorities”. This after Iran warned earlier this week that it could close the Strait of Hormuz if necessary. The Aries is leased by international shipping line MSC from Gortal Shipping, an affiliate of Zodiac Maritime, Zodiac said in a statement, adding that MSC is responsible for all vessel activities. Zodiac is partly owned by Israeli businessman Eyal Ofer.

India has again rejected the "absurd claims" and "baseless arguments" made by China on Arunachal Pradesh. In a befitting reply to China on Arunachal, India asserted it to be an "integral and inalienable part of India". The MEA noted that people of Arunachal will "continue to benefit" from India's development programmes. Chinese Defence Ministry recently reiterated its claim over Arunachal Pradesh, terming the Indian State as “China’s inherent territory”. The Chinese military's comments came days after India rejected China’s remark on PM Modi’s visit to the northeast state. PM Modi on March 9 virtually inaugurated the strategic Sela Tunnel during an event held in the capital city of Itanagar. Further on March 15, Zhang said that China “firmly opposes India's illegal establishment of the so-called 'Arunachal Pradesh'”.

Denouncing the recently enacted Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) once again, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi went all guns blazing against BJP on March 16 in Hyderabad, Telangana. During a press conference, he alleged that the BJP government wants to make the poor and Muslims stateless. "Our case (challenging CAA) is already in the Supreme Court but at that time govt of India said that the rules are yet not framed. But now as the govt has issued the notifications and has framed the rules for CAA, going to the Supreme Court is a must. If the govt starts giving citizenship based on an unconstitutional law, it can be harmful... This govt is saying that if your religion is Islam, we won't provide you the citizenship, for this we have moved to the Supreme Court. The law was passed in 2019 by the ruling party, but they keep it as it is, when they saw that there would be an announcement for elections in a week, they came up with rules in the night by keeping in mind, the elections. The BJP-led govt wants to make the poor and Muslims stateless.
