Neurologist Dr Chandrashekhar Meshram has been awarded the Padma Shri Award in the field of Medicine. He says, "It is a matter of great pride and joy for Nagpur and Vidarbha as well as the entire country. This is a matter of pride for the medical fraternity...". This year, twelve persons from Maharashtra have been selected to receive Padma awards, which are given in recognition of extraordinary efforts. The Ministry of Home Affairs revealed the distinguished awards on the eve of the 75th Republic Day celebrations. Notable Marathi director Rajdutt, acclaimed music director Pyarelal Sharma, and former Union minister and governor of Uttar Pradesh Ram Naik are among the other prominent recipients of the Padma Awards 2024. A wide range of professions, including sports, medicine, literature, education, trade, industry, and social service, are among the recipients of the Padma Shri award.

Pak Military Monitor reported that the mood is getting anti-federal in the PoK area of Gilgit-Baltistan. The Awami Action Committee said that the national parties have used Gilgit-Baltistan as a 'colony' to be exploited by the federal authorities. The locals will continue the protest unless federal authorities are rejected in elections, the Pak Military Monitor reported. Desperate citizens marched against the government demanding flour, pulses, electricity and jobs.
