The Delhi Development Authority has demolished the home of a rat hole miner Wakeel Hassan. He played an important role in rescuing 41 workers trapped in Uttarkashi's Silkyara tunnel last year in November. A video of the demolition has gone viral on social media. Hassan shared the video and claimed that the building he and his family was residing was "razed in the drive". A shocking incident of child molestation has emerged from Thane. Reportedly, on a school trip on February 20th, the bus attendant molested 8-10 children who were from grade 2. Parents held protests outside school against the school administration over alleged molestation of children on a school trip. They were demanding the resignation of the teachers involved and management. We have filed an FIR against the teacher, management, principal and the criminal. On the Thane children molestation incident, a parent said, "On February 20, when kids from grade 2 were on a picnic, two outsiders also accompanied them which wasn't informed to any parents. We don't know the due diligence or the process through which they're selected for the picnic.”

Security has been stepped up in Banbhoolpura area of Uttarakhand’s Haldwani after violence broke out. An anti-encroachment drive was carried out on February 08 after which violence broke out in the area. So far, 4 persons killed, and over 100 policemen sustained injuries in the Haldwani violence. Four companies of paramilitary forces were rushed to the city to maintain the law and order situation. District Magistrate has imposed a curfew in Banbhoolpura and issued shoot-at-sight orders. Many vehicles including cars, motorcycles were set ablaze during the violence on February 08. Internet Services have been suspended and educational institutions have been closed in the district. Uttarakhand Police has also requested the Home Ministry to send additional paramilitary forces. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami urged locals to maintain the law and order in district.

After conducting an inspection survey of the upstream and downstream region near the Joshimath area, which is affected by landslide and land-subsidence, Prof Rajeev Sinha, team head of Kanpur IIT Geological Research, said the situation in Joshimath could worsen if there is a spell of rain or an earthquake. Joshimath, Uttarakhand on Sunday was declared as a landslide and subsidence hit zone by the authorities. The development comes almost a week after the cracks started appearing in many roads and houses of Joshimath.

The Prime Minister's Office has called a high-level meeting to discuss the land-subsidence-affected Joshimath town of Uttarakhand on January 08. Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Dr. PK Mishra will hold a high-level review with the Cabinet Secretary and senior officials of GoI. Members of the National Disaster Management Authority will also be present for the meeting. District Officials of Joshimath will also remain present through video conference on this issue. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has also directed to constitute a coordination committee at the government level led by the Additional Chief Secretary and at the local level under the chairmanship of Commissioner Garhwal, for the help and relief and rescue of the people affected by the Joshimath landslide.
