Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis along with his wife Mareva Grabowski-Mitsotakis arrived at Rashtrapati Bhavan on February 21. He was received by his Indian Counterpart Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Mitsotakis also received a guard of honour by the Indian Tri-Services. At the invitation of PM Modi, Greek PM Mitsotakis landed in India for a two-day State visit. Greece PM India Visit will also see him attending the 9th edition of Raisina Dialogue 2024 as the chief guest. He said, “It is a privilege to be in India on an official state visit, reciprocating the visit of the Prime Minister to Greece a few months ago. For Greece, the strategic partnership between our two countries is of particular importance and we will have the opportunity to discuss a wide range of topics, political consultations, strategic partnership, but also fostering our economic lives between our two economies. The Indian Navy warship INS Sumitra thwarted the piracy attempt on an Iranian-flagged fishing vessel, Al Naeemi sailing off the East Coast of Somalia and successfully rescued 19 Pakistani nationals on Monday, the Indian Navy said in an official statement. It is the second rescue operation within a day for the Indian Navy after saving another Iranian-flagged fishing vessel, FV Iman, from Somali pirates, which had 17 crew members onboard in its anti-piracy operations along the east coast of Somalia and the Gulf of Aden on Monday, an official statement said. The Indian Navy said that its warship INS Sumitra intercepted the distressed vessel and pressed into action to locate the fishing vessel, which had been boarded by pirates and saved 19 Pakistani national crew members who were taken hostage. The warship acted in accordance with the established SOPs to coerce the pirates for the safe release of the crew along with the boat and ensured the successful release of all 19 crew members along with the boat. Subsequently, the ship also undertook confirmatory boarding to sanitise and check on the well-being of the crew who were held captive by the Somali pirates.

In response to the Andhra train accident, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw took stock of the situation from the war room in Delhi. The horrific train accident on Oct 29 in Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagram district has jolted the nation. Notably, the death toll has mounted to 11, and at least 50 people were injured in the tragic accident. CPRO East Coast Railways informed that 18 trains have been cancelled and around 22 have been diverted. Andhra CM YS Jagan ordered immediate relief measures at the accident site. The Prime Minister has also announced the ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the PMNRF for the next of kin of each deceased.
