Republic Day 2024: Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde unfurls the National flag

As India celebrates Republic Day 2024 today, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde unfurled the national flag on 75th Republic Day at his official residence Varsha Bungalow in Mumbai. He extended his wishes for citizens of Maharashtra and also said that Maharashttra will always contribute to the progress of India. Meanwhile in the national capital Delhi, India is set to celebrate its 75th Republic Day on Friday with an impressive display of its military might and rich cultural heritage at the Kartavya Path in the heart of the national capital. The theme of this year's Republic Day is 'Viksit Bharat' and 'Bharat: Loktantra ki Matruka', which symbolise the country's aspirations and its role as the nurturer of democracy.

PM Modi in Navi Mumbai inaugurates multiple development projects

PM Modi in Navi Mumbai along with Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde and Deputy CMs Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar greeted crowds gathered at the public event, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth more than Rs 12,700 crore, in Navi Mumbai. PM Modi inaugurated Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), also known as Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewari - Nhava Sheva Atal Setu in Maharashtra. Atal Setu is the longest bridge in India and also the longest sea bridge in the country. It will provide faster connectivity to Mumbai International Airport and Navi Mumbai International Airport and will also reduce the travel time from Mumbai to Pune, Goa and South India.

The third meeting of the I.N.D.I.A will be held on 31 August and 1 September during which they are likely to announce a coordination committee and a logo for the alliance. Addressing the media, Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole, "We're very happy that INDIA alliance meeting is going to take place in Maharashtra...in Bengaluru, we were 26 (parties), here it has become 28 (parties)...jaise INDIA badhega, waise hi China peeche hatega."

I-N-D-I-A Alliance: Prashant Kishor takes jibe at Nitish Kumar

Election strategist Prashant Kishor on Tuesday hit out at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar saying he neither has the party nor an image to be a convener of INDIA alliance. The remarks came of the Opposition bloc meeting this week in Mumbai. Nitish had  reiterated that his drive to forge opposition unity was prompted by "no personal ambitions" and that he would like someone else to be made convener of the opposition coalition INDIA. The 26-party opposition alliance, which has been formed to jointly take on the ruling BJP at the Centre in 2024 Lok Sabha polls, have already met twice – first in Patna on June 23 and then in Bengaluru on July 17-18. The opposition bloc is set to hold its third meeting in Mumbai on August 31 and September 1 for further talks. Congress leader Nana Patole said the logo for the INDIA alliance will be unveiled soon.

Maha CM Shinde performs ‘bhoomi pujan’ for Tirupati temple in Navi Mumbai

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday performed the 'bhoomi poojan' of a temple, built on a 10 acre land in Navi Mumbai allotted by the state government to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) trust. Among those present during the 'bhoomi pujan' on Wednesday included Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Raymond company Chairman and Managing Director Gautam Singhania, TTD trust board Chairman YV Subba Reddy and its Executive Officer AV Dharma Reddy. The temple will be built at a cost of Rs 70 crore, with Singhania coming forward to foot the entire expenses. The construction will be completed within two years. Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde in his address said the temple will go a long way in fulfilling the desire of thousands of devotees who want to visit Tirumala but are not able to do so for various reasons.

US court approves extradition of 26/11 accused Tahawwur Rana to India

A US court has approved the extradition of Tahawwur Rana to India as he is sought for his involvement in 26/11. Tahawwur, a Canadian businessman of Pakistani descent, was arrested in the US on an extradition request by India. “The Court has reviewed and considered all of the documents submitted in support of and in opposition to the Request and has considered the arguments presented at the hearing. Based on such review and consideration and for the reasons discussed herein, the Court makes the findings set forth below and certifies to the Secretary of State of the United States the extraditability of Rana on the charged offenses that are the subject of the Request,” said US Court Orders. Rana is accused of planning and executing the Lashkar terrorist attacks in Mumbai with his childhood friend David Headley. In 2011, Rana was convicted in Chicago of providing material support to a Pakistan-based terror outfit LeT. Extradition was contested by his lawyer, but the judge ruled that there are sufficient evidence to establish that he was accused of 26/11 incident.

India’s second apple store now in Delhi

After Mumbai, Apple CEO Tim Cook inaugurated the tech giant's retail store in New Delhi on April 20. The store is called ‘Apple Saket’ed at the Select Citywalk Mall in Saket. Tim Cook interacted with the customers and Apple fans who were eagerly waiting outside the store. The store has a dedicated Apple Pickup station which makes easier for customers to order online and collect their devices in-store. CEO Tim Cook opened India's first retail store of Apple in Mumbai's Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) on Tuesday. Apple CEO Tim Cook also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 19 in Delhi. He thanked PM Modi for the warm welcome and tweeted that Apple is committed to growing and investing across India.

Apple’s first store opens in India, Tim Cook’s ‘hello’ to Mumbai

With a graceful ‘hello’, tech giant Apple is all set to open its first retail store in Mumbai on April 18. The first-ever physical retail outlet to be opened in India is a huge step forward for Apple and India in terms of expanding the service for its loyal customers. Taking to Twitter, Apple CEO Tim Cook greeted Mumbai with a huge ‘hello’ and shared a welcoming picture with his Mumbai team. The store with attractive architecture will open its gates to the public at 11 am in the morning. The outlet in Delhi, however, will open on April 20. The first online store in India entered the market in 2020 with plans to open stores soon after, however, the launch was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
