17 April,2024 09:00 PM ISTIn a significant stride towards the ambitious Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor, National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has marked a major breakthrough with another engineering marvel. On October 05, NHSRCL successfully completed the first mountain tunnel for the corridor in just 10 months. This mountain tunnel is about 1 km from Jaroli village in Umbergaon taluka of Valsad district of Gujarat. The mountain tunnel has enhanced the progress of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project towards its anticipated completion.

Also, an Orange Alert has been issued for Thane, Mumbai and Ratnagiri. Heavy showers resulted in flooding at Rasayani police station in Raigad district on Wednesday morning, hampering the work,Due to the downpour, a flood-like situation was witnessed in parts of the district. Meanwhile, Raigad District Collector Yogesh Mhase announced a holiday for all schools and colleges in the district today in view of heavy rains.

17 July,2023 03:34 PM IST | MumbaiThe India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday issued an orange alert for heavy rains in Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg. While a yellow alert has been issued for Mumbai on June 29 and 30. As per the Regional Meteorological Centre, the island city, eastern and western suburbs received 12.44 mm, 42.41 mm and 40.46 mm of rainfall respectively between 8 am to 12 noon on Wednesday. In the last 24 hours, there were 26 incidents of tree fall, 15 short-circuits, and five incidents of collapse/partial collapse of houses in Mumbai, as per the civic body. There was no report of any major water-logging in low-lying areas, officials of the BMC informed. Suburban trains on the Central Railway and Western Railway routes were running normally, though they were delayed by a few minutes, informed railway officials. Andheri subway was flooded because of heavy downpour but traffic was running smoothly soon and there was no major waterlogging. IMD scientist Soma Sen said, "The monsoon is active currently with its rapid advancement in the last 4-5 days. Leaving some parts of northwest India, the monsoon has impacted almost the entire country. Entire Gujarat and south-east Rajasthan have been covered by the monsoon. In the next two days, it is expected that south Punjab, Haryana and the remaining parts of Rajasthan will be covered."

The incident happened in Mumbai's Malabar Hill area inside Geetanjali building. Besides cars, a boundary wall of the society was damaged too. Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) rushed to the spot. Further details awaited. Meanwhile, the IMD on Saturday issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, predicting heavy rainfall in parts of Maharashtra in the next 4-5 days. As per the weather update issued by IMD at 10 am, light to moderate spells of rain are very likely to occur at Mumbai, Raigad, Thane, and Palghar during the next 3-4 hours.

Visuals of the rally show the farmers meandering roads and different terrains while inching close to the Maximum City. The march started from Dindori in Nashik district, has been organised by the CPM and covered 200 kms to reach Mumbai. Organisers said that besides farmers, many workers in the unorganised sector, such as ASHA workers, and members of tribal communities have joined the march.
