US President Joe Biden: Putin Is Responsible For Navalny’s Death

US President Joe Biden has blamed Russian President Vladimir Putin for the death of Alexei Navalny who was a prominent critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin and was found dead in Arctic Jail. As per the Russian Prison service, Navalny died after a walk at the “Polar Wolf” Arctic penal colony. US President Joe Biden said that he was “not surprised” by the news of Navalny’s death. Alexei Navalny, serving death sentence on multiple corruption charges, was seen as the leading opposition figure against President Putin. Navalny rose to prominence more than a decade ago by speaking publicly against corruption in Russia and used to organise major anti-Kremlin protests.

Jailed Russian Opposition leader Alexei Navalny And President Putin critic dies

Prominent critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Alexei Navalny died in a prison on Feb 16. The 47-year-old Russian Opposition leader was serving a three-decade jail term was found dead at the Artic jail. As per the Russian Prison service, Navalny died after a walk at the “Polar Wolf” Arctic penal colony. The Federal Penitentiary Service of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District said in a statement that Navalny felt unwell after a walk. Raising suspicion over Navalny’s death news, his wife Yulia Navalnaya said that it is difficult for her to believe the reports as ‘Putin and his govt lie incessantly’. Navalny’s death news comes as President Putin prepares for Russian Presidential Elections aiming to extend his rule till 2030. Earlier in 2020, Navalny was poisoned during a flight to Moscow in 2020 and was rushed to Germany for urgent treatment. Navalny returned to Russia in 2021 and got arrested over fraud and extremism charges and was sentenced to 9 years in jail. Alexei Navalny, serving death sentence on multiple corruption charges was seen as the leading opposition figure against President Putin. 2023 Qatar espionage case: Indian Navy Chief reacts on death penalty

Qatar shocked India with its recent verdict against the eight former Indian Navy officers. The eight former naval personnel were sentenced to death by the Court of First Instance of Qatar. Reacting to the 2023 Qatar espionage case, Indian Navy Chief said, “Govt putting all-out efforts to bring them back”. India called the ruling 'deeply shocking' and deployed all diplomatic channels to engage with Qatar on this case. In November, a court of appeal in Qatar accepted the Indian Govt’s application against the death sentence. The 8 former Indian Navy personnel were arrested in August 2022 for alleged espionage in Qatar. They were employees of Dahra Global, a Doha-based private defence services provider.

Asaduddin Owaisi's plea in the parliament to get ex-naval officers back from Qat

The Court of First Instance of Qatar has passed a verdict of the death penalty for the eight former Indian naval officers who have been Imprisoned in Qatar since October 2022. These ex-officers were accused of allegedly spying on a submarine programme. India’s Ministry of External Affairs said it is "deeply shocked" by the verdict and now awaits the detailed judgement. Meanwhile, AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi called the matter “unfortunate” and urged PM Modi to bring ex-Indian Naval Officers back to India. Among the senior operatives, Osama Mazini, Muetaz Eid, Ayman Nofal, and more were killed in IDF airstrike. So far, Israeli Air Force's fighter jets demolished over 250 military targets in the Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, the Hamas has claimed that they were holding over 200 hostages in Gaza, the Times of Israel reported. However, IDF on October 20 confirmed the release of two US citizens identified as Judith Tai Raanan, Natali Raanan. The American citizens have been handed over safely to the Israeli Troops.
