It has been nine years since the horrific incident where a 22-year-old physiotherapy intern was beaten and gang-raped by six people in a moving bus in Delhi’s Munirka. Although the accused were brought to justice, data on crimes against women in India shows a dismal picture. About 77 rape cases were reported daily in 2020, as per the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, compared to 68 in 2012.
