The BJP MLAs staged a protest near Mahatma Gandhi's statue inside the Assembly premises. The BJP legislators started demanding a discussion on alleged irregularities in the DJB. DMK leader and minister for fisheries and animal husbandry Anitha R Radhakrishnan rolled out an advertisement in the Tamil newspapers on Wednesday. The ad had an image of a rocket with a Chinese flag on its nose cone, instead of the image of an IRSO rocket. The ad was intended to celebrate New space sport in Kulasekarapattinam. BJP has accused DMK of disrespecting Indian's sovereignty. Prime Minister Modi who is on a two day visit to Tamil Nadu said that the ad insulted Indian scientists and is a waste of public money. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai trained guns at DMK.

Now, the actor has not only featured in the devotional song, Ayodhya ke Shri Ram, but also rapped in it. For him, the song, which released yesterday, carries “the hopes of millions.” “It isn’t just a song, it’s a homecoming. Representing the Hindu side in the Gyanvapi case, Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain stated on Thursday that an out-of-court settlement in the Gyanvapi Mosque issue is not legally possible under the CPC. This statement was made after Jitendra Singh Bisen, the international president of the Vishwa Vedic Sanatan Sangh, wrote a letter to Anjuman Intejamia proposing an out-of-court settlement in the Gyanvapi case. "It has no legal value. Order 23 of the CPC clearly states that until all parties agree, no compromise can be made. And in matters related to the country and society, where a representative suit is filed involving the entire society, even if one person or party wants to settle alone, they cannot. So this initiative for an out-of-court settlement is not possible under the CPC, as it is not legally possible,” he said.

From the 150th spot in 2022, India’s rank has further dipped to 161 in the 2023 edition of the Press Freedom Index published by Reporters Without Borders. This is several spots behind Pakistan and Afghanistan, which have improved their rankings this year at positions 150 and 152, respectively. Countries ranked lower than India include Bangladesh (163), Turkey (165), Saudi Arabia (170), and Iran (177). The index was published today, May 3, which is also World Press Freedom Day. The ranking is based on a country’s performance in five broad categories: political context, legal framework, economic context, sociocultural context, and safety of journalists. Of the five, India’s ranking was lowest in the safety of journalists category (172) and best in the social indicator category (143).
