Bengaluru Water Crisis: IT employees demand Work from home amid water crisis

The IT employees in India’s Silicon City, Bengaluru on March 13, expressed dismay amid the Bengaluru water crisis in the Karnataka state. The depletion of groundwater and drying up of more than 3,000 borewells in the capital city has made it difficult for people here. The IT employees are now choosing Work from Home (WFH) due to water scarcity in Bengaluru. “If we get work from home it will be good as the water will be saved...it will save our time and water,” said Amogh, an IT employee. “More amount of water is spent if the employees go to the offices. It’s better to get work from home… Never thought that we would get WFH because of water scarcity,” said Varsha, an IT employee.

Ayodhya Ram Mandir: 10,000 CCTVs installed, 13000 security personnel deployed

Security beefed up in Ayodhya as the city gears up for the grand consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple on January 22.  Speaking on security arrangements in Ayodhya, Prashant Kumar, UP Special DG of Law & Order, said on January 21 that over 13,000 personnel have been deployed for the Ayodhya Ram Mandir consecration mega event. He also stated that over 10,000 CCTV cameras have been installed. He went on to say that the smooth completion of the Pran Pratishtha Ceremony is both a challenge and an opportunity for the Uttar Pradesh Police. The ceremony scheduled for January 22 will witness the installation of the idol of Ram Lalla at the grand temple. It is expected to be attended by hundreds of officials, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Apache Attack Helicopters deployed in Jodhpur near Pakistan by Indian Army

The Indian Army has decided to bolster its combat capabilities near the Pakistan border in the western desert. In that series, six Apache attack helicopters will be deployed near international borders at a military station in Jodhpur. The Indian Air Force already has a fleet of 22 Apache helicopters deployed at both western and northern borders. The American attack helicopters were deployed in the eastern Ladakh sector soon after the Chinese aggression started in 2020. The original equipment manufacturer Boeing announced in August last year that it had started the production of Apache Helicopters for the Indian Army at its state-of-art facility in the US. The production process builds upon an ongoing collaboration with Tata Boeing Aerospace Limited (TBAL) which plays a pivotal role in the manufacturing of AH-64E fuselages at its cutting-edge facility in Hyderabad.

US Carney warship shoots down Houthi Rebels’ drones in Red Sea

The US warship shot down three Houthi rebels’ drones headed in the ship’s direction in the Red Sea on Dec 04. As per US Central Command, Arleigh-Burke Class destroyer USS CARNEY responded to distress calls from the ships, provided assistance. The attacks marked an escalation in a series of maritime attacks in the Mideast linked to the Israel-Hamas war. For the first time in the conflict, multiple vessels found themselves in the crosshairs of a single Houthi’s assault. US Central Command condemned the attack and called it a “direct threat to international commerce, maritime security”. While, the US believed that these attacks launched by the Houthis in the Red Sea from Yemen, were fully “enabled by Iran”. Uttarkashi Tunnel Collapse: Doctors deployed inside the tunnel, rescue soon

A temporary medical facility has been expanded inside the tunnel as rescue operation completion is expected by Nov 28 evening. After the evacuation, health check-up of the workers will be done inside the tunnel. 8 beds were arranged by the health department and a team of doctors and experts have been deployed. The relatives of the 41 trapped labourers have been asked to be present at the operation site as the ongoing rescue effort raises hopes of an early evacuation. According to the sources, the workers will be taken to Chinyalisaur Hospital after being rescued. While addressing the media on the Uttarkashi Tunnel collapse rescue operation, Lieutenant General (Retd.) and Member of NDMA Syed Ata Hasnain said that the operation is near breakthrough but not yet there. Furthermore, he added that the manual work was carried on and drilled 58 metres.

A Non-AC double-decker bus conducted its last ride in Mumbai on September 15. Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) has replaced Non-AC double-decker buses with AC double-decker buses. “Today is an emotional day, we all got emotional...my father used to take me out on this bus since I was a child and I have more than 2000 models of double-decker bus. I request BEST to keep these buses in a museum style,” said a passenger Yatin Angre.“We have a bond with double-decker buses. It is part of our family and we feel like someone from our family is leaving us. Double-decker buses are the pride of Mumbai, and we feel like it should continue its service,” said Gulabrao Aher, Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) employee.

Security forces beefed up in Nuh ahead of VHP's 'Braj Mandal Jal Abhishek Yatra'

In response to the VHP’s ‘Braj Mandal Jal Abhishek Yatra’ on August 28, despite the authorities’ refusal to grant permission. Security measures have been put in place in Haryana's Nuh and surrounding areas. Officials have disclosed the deployment of security personnel, including those from paramilitary units, tasked with maintaining vigilant presence. Furthermore, security along inter-state and inter-district borders has been reinforced. VHP on Aug 26 announced that they will bring out a Braj Mandal Jal Abhishek Yatra on Aug 28 in Nuh. Speaking on VHP yatra, CM Khattar said instead of carrying out a people should go to nearby temples and offer prayers.

India’s newest Heron Mark-2 drones are one of the most advanced drones

The Indian Air Force recently inducted its latest Heron Mark 2 drones, which have strike capability and can carry out surveillance along the borders with both China and Pakistan in a single sortie itself. The four new Heron Mark-2 drones, which can be equipped with long-range missiles and other weapons systems, have been deployed at a forward air base in the northern sector. The drones with satellite communication capability have given a long desired capability to the Indian Air Force, as its drones can operate at very long distances for close to 36 hours at a stretch and can also laser illuminate enemy targets from very long ranges to help fighter aircraft destroy them using their long-range weapons.

India has introduced an upgraded squadron of MiG-29 fighter jets at the Srinagar air base to address potential threats from the dual front. The Tridents squadron, now dubbed the 'Defender of the North,' has taken the place of the MiG-21 squadron. MiG-21 was traditionally responsible for countering the Pakistani threat at the Srinagar air base. The enhanced MiG-29s offer numerous advantages over the MiG-21s, which effectively safeguarded the Kashmir valley for an extended period. After undergoing upgrades, the MiG-29s now boast extended-range air-to-air missiles and air-to-ground weaponry.
