Ayodhya Ram Mandir: Huge pilgrim rush in Ayodhya for Ram Lalla darshan

Since the Pran Pratishtha at Ayodhya Ram Mandir, devotees in large numbers are coming to have a glimpse of Ram Lalla. A huge influx of devotees was witnessed on January 25 as well. Praveen Kumar, IG, Ayodhya Range, informed that there are two queues and each is 1 kilometre long. IG said, "Today is the festival of Paush Poornima in which people take a holy dip first. People from the surrounding areas are coming on foot. There are two queues one kilometre long each... Any belongings have to be kept in the Public Facilitation Centre (PFC)... There is also a physical frisking centre... We appeal to people to bring fewer belongings to save time...".

Amarnath Yatra 2023: First batch of pilgrims begins journey towards cave shrine

The annual Amarnath Yatra began on July 01 with the first batch of pilgrims from Baltal base camp in Jammu and Kashmir's Ganderbal to Amarnath Cave. It was flagged off by the Deputy Commissioner of Ganderbal, Shyambir, along with senior officials of Amarnath Shrine Board and the police at the Baltal base camp. The government also completed all arrangements for the yatra which results pilgrims being very much satisfied with the facilities including water electricity, food stalls, and medical and tent facilities. The 62-day pilgrimage will culminate on August 31. The pilgrims will undertake a 12-km journey from the base camp to the holy Amarnath cave shrine in the south Kashmir Himalayas located at an altitude of about 13,000 feet. Baltal, in central Kashmir's Ganderbal district, is one of the twin routes for the annual pilgrimage and the other one is the Pahalgam route in south Kashmir's Anantnag district. In preparation for the Yatra, various 'langar' committees started their practice on Wednesday, three days in advance, to cater to the pilgrims.

Indian Railways will operate 857 special trains towards Puri and back during the Jagannath Rath Yatra this year for approximately 20 lakh pilgrims, who are visiting Puri, said Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. He interacted with the pilgrims during his visit to the Railway Station.He further said that all arrangements have been made at the Puri station for the Pilgrims coming here for the Rath yatra.

Scuffle between warkaris and police; Dy CM denies reports of lathicharge

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday denied reports of lathi-charge on warkaris by police in Alandi town in Pune district. He said a minor scuffle broke out between warkaris- devotees of Lord Vitthal- and the police. Opposition parties, however, claimed police lathi-charged warkaris and demanded a high-level probe and strict action. Nationalist Congress Party working president Supriya Sule and Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole claimed warkaris were lathi-charged by the police and condemned the incident. The incident occurred when devotees were scrambling to gain entry into Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Samadhi Mandir in Alandi town, 22 km from Pune city, during the ceremonial procession which is part of the annual Ashadhi Ekadashi pilgrimage to Pandharpur.

Kedarnath pilgrimage registrations suspended amid heavy snowfall

Following continuous snowfall and bad weather the registration of pilgrims for Kedarnath has been suspended till May 3, 2023, the officials said on Tuesday. Earlier on April 25 doors of Kedarnath Dham were opened for pilgrims. The Uttarakhand government stopped accepting registration applications from pilgrims for the Kedarnath Dham Yatra in view of heavy snowfall on the pilgrimage route and a warning by the Met Department. The Kedarnath temple is one of the most revered temples in the country dedicated to Lord Shiva and people from across the country visit the temple during the six months when the temple is open.

At least 13 people died and 40 were reported missing after a major cloudburst at the Amarnath cave area was reported at around 5.30 pm. Rescue operations are underway by NDRF, SDRF, and other associated agencies. The gushing waters hit the base camp outside the shrine, damaging 25 tents and three community kitchens where the pilgrims are served food, they said.

34 Indian pilgrims killed in Nepal bus mishap

At least 34 Indians were among the 39 pilgrims who were killed today when tragedy struck their overcrowded bus that skidded off a slippery road and plunged into a swollen canal in southern Nepal. The bus was carrying 100 to 120 Hindu pilgrims, mostly from Uttar Pradesh, to a temple in Nawalparasi district, 150 km west of the capital Kathmandu, police officials in Nawalparasi district.
