Russian President Vladimir Putin on December 06 arrived in Abu Dhabi for his first visit. With jets flying past, camel cavalry and gun salutes, the Russian Prez was accorded a grand welcome upon his arrival. Notably, this is Putin’s first trip to the Middle East region since the Ukraine War began in Feb 2022. Moreover, Putin was escorted by elite Russian flankers Su-35s for a rare trip abroad after Ukraine war. Supriya Sule, daughter of NCP supremo Sharad Pawar, and NCP Vice-President Praful Patel have been declared as working presidents of the party. Sharad Pawar made the announcement at the 25th anniversary of the party, founded by him and P A Sangma in 1999. After the announcement was made, Supriya Sule said she was deeply grateful to the party, adding that she is determined to justify the trust reposed in her by the party. The Nationalist Congress Party completed 25 years today and a special event was organised in Mumbai on the occasion. Sharad Pawar had last month offered to resign from the presidency of the party, which was followed by fervent remonstrations from the party members as well as other political leaders. An NCP panel formed to deliberate on Mr Pawar's offer had on May 5 rejected his resignation and urged him to continue as the party president.

The Budget session of Parliament begins on January 31, 2023, with the President addressing a joint session, followed by the tabling of Economic Survey by the Finance Minister. The President addresses members of both Houses in the Parliament’s Central Hall on the first day of the budget session every year. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the last full-fledged Union Budget of the Modi government before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on February 1. The Economic Survey will be tabled on January 31 after the President’s address.
