Jhelum boat accident: Boat capsizes in J&K's Jhelum River, 4 dead

In a tragic incident, a boat carrying school children capsized in the Jhelum river in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir on April 16. The Jhelum boat accident killed 4 people. The Srinagar Administration has launched a rescue operation in the area. A State Disaster Response Force team was also deployed. At least six persons including four children have died. Meanwhile, 4 bodies have been recovered, while others are missing. The boat which has capsized was ferrying children from Gandbal to Batwara in Srinagar. Continuous rains over last two days have led to an increase in the water levels of several water bodies, including Jhelum. Watch video

The BJP candidate from the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency, Kompella Madhavi Latha on Sunday ridiculed the complaint filed against her controversial arrow gesture towards a mosque and said if she were against the Muslims, then why would she participate in a procession during the holy month of Ramzan and distribute food to many people with her own hands?Reacting to this, she told ANI, "On the occasion of Ram Navami...for a Dhanush that didn't exist, for the Teer (arrow) that didn't exist, and for the reaction of the teer coming out that wasn't there, they made a false video of mine...They have made an allegation and registered an FIR..."Owaisi, who has served four terms in the Lok Sabha as the elected representative from Hyderabad since 2004, was previously elected as an MLA twice in the erstwhile undivided Andhra Pradesh. The Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency comprises seven assembly segments--Bahadurpura, Chandrayangutta, Charminar, Goshamahal, Karwan, Malakpet and Yakatpura. All assembly seats, except Goshamahal, are presently held by the AIMIM. Since 1984, candidates from the Owaisi family or those supported by them, have been elected from Hyderabad, with Asaduddin Owaisi currently serving as the Lok Sabha member from the prestigious seat.

Salman Khan House Firing Case: Two Suspects Arrested

The Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested 2 suspects involved in the shooting outside Salman Khan's residence in Bandra. The victims who are identified as Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal  were arrested from Bhuj in Gujarat where they had escaped after the incident. Gupta and Pal belong to Champaran in Bihar. They are now being brought to Mumbai for further questioning about their motive and if they were tasked by someone to carry the shooting..For the unversed, on 14th of April, a shooting happened in the early hours of Sunday after motorcycle-borne shooters opened fire outside Galaxy Apartments. Police said the suspects had their faces covered and the incident was a planned one.  A total of four rounds were fired by the accused and a live cartridge was recovered from the spot. Khan was present in his home at the time of the incident, the police said, adding that the bullets were fired into the air. "The shooters have been captured in CCTV footage at the Bandra railway station" said the Police. In the CCTV footage, the shooters were seen firing towards the actor's house. The accused were carrying bags and wore helmets. Sunday's incident is reportedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which has previously threatened Salman Khan.

Indian Army conducts Anti-Tank Guided Missile Firing in Sikkim

Trishakti Corps of the Indian Army conducted a training exercise, involving the firing of anti-tank guided missiles. The exercise was conducted at a super high-altitude area of 17,000 feet in Sikkim on April 12. Missile-firing detachments from mechanised and infantry units of the entire Eastern Command participated. The exercise encompassed comprehensive continuity training and live firing from different platforms. It included moving as well as static targets which depicted actual battlefield conditions for the commandos. The ATGM system's performance in high-altitude environments reaffirms the aim of 'Ek Missile Ek Tank'.
