Security was beefed up in parts of Jammu and Kashmir amid anti-terror operations. Security personnel deployed in the Bafliaz area of Poonch district after the Jammu and Kashmir terror attack. The search operation is underway to nab terrorists in the forest area of Dera ki Gali in Rajouri. Indian Army’s Sniffer dogs deployed in the forest area to sniff terrorists’ activities. Army Chief, Gen Manoj Pande will also visit Jammu on Dec 25 to review the situation. Several terror attacks have been witnessed in Jammu and Kashmir in the last few days. 4 Army jawans were killed while 3 others sustained injuries in the terror attack on Dec 21. The terrorists ambushed two Army vehicles carrying troops in Thanamandi, Rajouri. On Dec 24, terrorists killed a retired police officer in Baramulla during morning prayers.

Indian Army has foiled another Pakistan’s nefarious terror bid in Jammu & Kashmir. An encounter was carried out on September 04 and one terrorist was shot dead in the operation. The encounter took place in Kalaban forest area of Reasi district. However, one security personnel also sustained injuries during the operation. On Sept 05, security forces cordoned off the area and search operation is still underway. Earlier on Aug 21, an encounter broke out between security forces, terrorists in Larrow-Parigam area of Pulwama.

The death toll in the Raigad landslide in Maharashtra has risen to 22 with the recovery of six more bodies. NDRF continued search and rescue operation at Irshalgad landslide-hit area amid heavy rainfall. The mishap took place in Irshalwadi village of Khalapur Tehsil in Raigad on July 19. Meanwhile, heavy rains continued to lash Mumbai, inundating low-lying areas.

Four minor boys aged between 12 and 16 were feared drowned after five children who were sitting on the edge of the jetty at Juhu Koliwada, near Juhu beach, were washed away in a high tide on Monday evening. According to civic body officials, the minors hailed from Vakola and were on a visit to the beach. Officials also said that one boy was rescued by local fishermen and other residents. The rescued boy is said in a stable condition and was taken to the police station for further investigations. Authorities in Mumbai on Tuesday said that the rescuers have found the bodies of two of the four boys. Coastguard chopper was seen while the rescue operation for remaining two boys is still ongoing.

A gun battle broke out between the security forces and militants in Ratnipora of Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district. Acting on information about the presence of militants in Ratnipora, a joint team of the Army and the police personnel cordoned the area and launched a search operation.
