Elections 2024: Nirmala Sitharaman Casts Vote, Shares Views On Inheritance Tax

Voting for the Second phase of 2024 Lok Sabha Elections has begun on April 26 and will go on till 6 pm today. India's Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman cast her vote in Bengaluru.  After casting her vote, she motivated other Indian to come and cast their votes.  Sitharaman expressed her satisfaction at the early turnout and emphasized the importance of stable governance, good policies, progress, and development. Sitharaman also shred her views on property tax and inheritance tax. She mentioned that such measures would adversely affect the middle class and aspirational individuals. Baltimore Bridge collapse: Locals share spine chilling details

Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed and vehicles plunged into the river on Mar 26 after a ship collided with one of the pillars. Daylight drone visuals showed the extent of damage the bridge suffered sending cars and people into the river. Following the incident, US Secretary of Transportation emphasised that the path to normalcy after the bridge collapse would not be easy. Meanwhile, locals recalled the moment of collapse and one of them said the noise was felt in the house. The Maryland state police on March 27 informed that six people who were missing after the bridge collapsed incident have been presumed dead. The ship was identified as a Singapore-flagged container ship, the Dali which was bound for Sri Lanka.

Delhi Farmers Protest: Farmers share details of demands

Ahead of the ‘Delhi Chalo’ protest march called by farmers, the security arrangements have been tightened at Singhu border on February 12. Earlier, Delhi Police on Feb 11 imposed Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code in North-East Delhi and at the borders with neighbouring Uttar Pradesh to avoid any untoward incidents and ensure law and order amid the Delhi Farmers protest. Sarvan Singh Pandher, General Secretary of Punjab Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, shared details of the demands that the farmers are keeping forward. "We will start from Beas & stay at Fatehgarh Sahib. Our demands are the same- MSP guarantee law, sugarcane should be joined with C200. When a farmer turns 60 years old, he should be given Rs 10,000 a month. It is unfortunate that the Indian farmer is called anti-national. We are not anti-national, we are the citizens of this country. For 75 years our demands were not heard. We will move peacefully & our objective is that the government listen to our demands."
