Fireworks and decorations dazzled India as people celebrated Diwali 2023 on November 12. Some lit ‘diyas’ around their homes while some offered prayers at the nearby temples. Devotees also lit earthen lamps at temple premises on the auspicious day. Public places, markets and stores dazzled in mesmerizing colors. Sweets are an integral part of Diwali celebrations too. Offering sweets to Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi is the norm. People also exchanged sweets on Diwali. This year, Diwali 2023 began from November 10 and will end on November 15th. The entire 5 days of Diwali have one common theme - to be blessed with love, prosperity and auspiciousness.

Onam 2023: People visit temples, participate in cultural activities in Kerala

Onam is observed across Kerala with immense enthusiasm and fervour. The much-celebrated festival began on August 20 and will wrap up on August 31 this year. The 10-day-long Onam celebrations, also referred to as Thiru-Onam or Thiruvonam, are observed all over the state as people commemorate the return of King Mahabali/Maveli. During the celebrations, people are visitng temples, and participating in various cultural activites. Thiruvananthapuram was also decorated with lights as part of the Onam celebrations. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Mumru, Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, governor Arif Mohammed Khan, CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury and several other leaders extended their greetings on the 10-day Onam festival on Tuesday. The leaders shared messages, urging people to spread the sparkle of the harvest festival of Kerala and wished for prosperity.
