Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 04 inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects worth Rs 11,599 crore in Guwahati. Launching the development projects, Prime Minister Modi said they will boost the connectivity in the region while also increasing avenues of employment for locals and encouraging them to take up sports. PM Modi in Assam also spoke about promoting culture and tourism. He went on to say that promoting tourism will increase employment opportunities. Nepal earthquake has ravaged Nepal with immense loss of lives and property sending shockwaves around the world. In the wake of the catastrophe, Nepalese PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal arrived at the affected areas and took stock of the situation. After assessing the situation, PM Dahal immediately called for a cabinet meeting of the Disaster Management Committee tomorrow. Nepal was jolted by a massive 6.6-magnitude earthquake on the late night of November 03 and continued to feel aftershocks, with a magnitude of 3.3. Meanwhile, Indian PM Narendra Modi had expressed his condolences as he said that he is ‘deeply saddened’ by the loss of lives. India also released an emergency contact number for Indians who require urgent assistance. Efforts are underway to provide medical assistance to those injured in the earthquake. The earthquake's impact has not been confined to Nepal alone, tremors were felt in several districts of North India, including Delhi-NCR, UP, and Bihar.
