Former India captain Sourav Ganguly was stopped at the Eden Gardens by International Cricket Council's (ICC) Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) officer Dharamveer Singh Jadav for taking the wrong route to the ground. Now Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) finds itself at the receiving end.

To felicitate the team members for their World Cup-winning feat, CAB had organised a dinner for the India and England teams at a city hotel yesterday. But Jadav informed both CAB and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that the players cannot be allowed to attend such parties on the match-eve.

Party called off
This led to confusion and finally CAB had to give in. The party had to be called off. It is learnt that Jadhav highlighted ICC's code of conduct while refusing to give permission to the players to attend such parties.
CAB, though terming the incident unfortunate, had to swallow the bitter pill. "It's a very unfortunate incident.

But we have to accept the fact and honour ICC's code of conduct. Everything was organised, but the last-moment mandate did upset everybody. Now, we have to decide on a new date for the felicitation. It may be before the Test match against West Indies," CAB Joint Secretary Biswarup Dey told MiD DAY. Jadav refused to comment. "I cannot comment on this as there is some code of conduct to follow," Jadav said.
