Another legal issue awaits the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA).

Another legal burden for Mumbai Cricket Association

Dr Nitin Rege, honorary secretary of Regent Cricket Club, has dragged the MCA to court over alleged violation of the playing condition rules and game by-laws. The hearing is scheduled at the City Civil Court on Monday.

“I had lodged a protest with the Kanga League committee on October 3, 2012 regarding various violations of the rules framed by them. They gave their verdict after 11 months and that too without taking into account any documentary proofs from the club. I wasn’t satisfied with this approach and hence approached the court,” Dr Rege told SUNDAY MiD DAY. The court case is likely to have a bearing on the restructured Dr HD Kanga Cricket League which is due to start from September 7.

MCA joint honorary secretaries Nitin Dalal and Dr PV Shetty could not be reached for a comment. The MCA is already entangled in a legal battle with seasoned administrator Prof Ratnakar Shetty. The former vice-president of the association is seeking a stay order on his five-year ban for alleged black-marketing remarks against MCA office-bearers during the last Annual General Meeting in March this year.
