Cape Cobras captain Justin Kemp, a hard-hitting all-rounder, who played 85 ODIs and four Tests for South Africa, has lashed out at the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL) for effectively ruining his career.
Asked if he had himself to blame for the decision, Kemp said: "Some legendary cricketers made a lot of promises which were never kept. There were so many assurances given. It is laughable that we never got our remuneration. If I could turn back time, I would have never played there."
Kemp hoped ICL would pave the way for him to play for SA. "People said ICL would eventually become legal, and that my international career would reopen," he said.
Last year, Kemp joined the Chennai Super Kings for the Indian Premier League (IPL) and also played the Champions League T20. "It was awesome being a part of them. I'm hoping to return the IPL IV. I've put my name for the auction," he said.
