Pune: A week is too less to talk about the purple cap in the IPL. But if Imran Tahir is sitting on top of the list with five wickets from two games, he must have done well for the Rising Pune Supergiant. Playing on batting friendly tracks Tahir has done well to take 34 wickets in 22 IPL games, at a strike rate of 20.

"I think playing is South Africa, I have never had spinning tracks. So that helps really, I take my learning from there," Tahir said on the eve of Supergiant’s game against Delhi Daredevils.
Tahir credited Supergiant’s computer analyst Prasanna, who has also worked with the South African team in the past for his success. "He has been a great help. He gives me plans and keeps working hard for me, which I really appreciate. I just sit with him, make a plan, and try and deliver. As long as I am giving 200 per cent to the team I am playing for, I am happy," he added.
Despite being the world No. 1 bowler in T20 international rankings, Tahir was unsold in the IPL 2017 auction. But an injury to Mitchell Marsh opened a door for Tahir and he was signed as a replacement. "If I say I was okay (at being unsold), I will be lying to you. I am human at the end of the day. I was sad when the auction happened. The last two years I have been performing and the stats are there for all to see. But for me, life carries on, and here I am," he said.
