India's stand in skipper Gautam Gambhir again scored a magnificent century along with Virat Kohli's consecutive fourth fifty to steer India to a 9-wicket win over New Zealand in Vadodara today and to claim an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series.
Gautam Gambhir hit a second successive century as India crushed New Zealand by nine wickets in the third one-day international on Saturday to take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series.
The stand-in skipper hammered 16 fours in his unbeaten 126 off 117 balls to help India overhaul New Zealand's 224-9 with 10.3 overs to spare in the one-sided encounter at the Reliance Stadium.
Gambhir, leading the side in place of rested regular captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, had also starred in India's eight-wicket win in the second one-day international in Jaipur, making an unbeaten 138 off 116 balls.
Virat Kohli (63 of 70 balls) also paced his innings well with Gambhir after opener Murli Vijay was run out for 30 runs.
Earlier in the day New Zealand could manage only 224/9 on neaty Reliance stadium wicket.
India's spearhead Zaheer Khan who returned to the squad took two wickets along with spinners Ashwin and Yusuf Pathan.
The fourth ODI between the two sides will be played in Bangalore on December 7.
