Former Australian pace ace Brett Lee said India have to field a strong fast-bowling attack in order to stand a chance to defend their title at the 2015 World Cup, early next year that will be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
“It would be fantastic to have Australia versus India in the final (at Melbourne). But, if India want to make sure they play the final, they need to dominate the fast bowling department.

“They have some great spinners and guys who can bat right down the order. But when you play in Australia where there is pace and bounce, you need bowlers who can bowl at more than 140 kmph,” Lee said at a media conference organised by Tourism Victoria at a city hotel yesterday.
Pace friendly wickets
Lee felt India should start preparing pace-friendly wickets that will encourage fast bowlers in the country. “India has produced some good fast bowlers, but not as many as other countries have done. You also have to see the wickets around. If I have to bowl at 150 kmph on a flat wicket with absolutely no grass on it, it’s absolutely difficult. If wickets don’t help, you cannot evolve as a fast bowler. India has to try and prepare wickets which will encourage pacers,”
Lee said.
