It is obviously tough on the cricketer when he is dropped. We also had a tough time convincing Amol (Muzumdar) while dropping him in the past. We spent an hour in his room explaining our decision.

We have to show that respect to a senior cricketer. You cannot take such decisions for granted. They (Zaheer and Agarkar) have spoken (out) because it can happen to anyone tomorrow.

Zaheer's comments are in bad taste. He shouldn't have said all this while the match was on.

They shouldn't have gone to the media to highlight their anger. It is obviously insulting for a senior player to be taken all the way and then not included in the playing XI.

The cricketers could have complained to the concerned authorities rather than coming out in public. Some confidentiality should have been maintained.

But cricket is an emotional game. Technically, the selectors have full rights to drop anyone, but morally, it was wrong to treat a senior player like this. Some things are beyond cricketing rules.

It is a very subjective thing. A lot depends on individual. Some like to speak up while some may not do so.

It's unfortunate. It could have been handled better.
