Smith celebrates birth of first child

South Africa captain Graeme Smith is expected to be back in England in time for the second Test after flying home to attend the birth of his first child. Smith cut short his team’s first-Test victory celebrations to be with his Irish wife Morgan after she went into labour.

Yesterday, he announced the news of the birth on his Twitter account, saying: “Our daughter, Cadence Christine Smith, was born this morning, 3,35kg mother and daughter doing well. Thanks for all kind wishes that was amazing.”
