West Indies captain Darren Sammy elected to bat after winning the toss against Sri Lanka in the opening Test in Galle on Monday.

Batsman Darren Bravo and all-rounder Andre Russell made Test debuts for the West Indies.


The tourists will play three Tests, five one-day internationals and a Twenty20 match in Sri Lanka.




West Indies: Darren Sammy (capt), Brendan Nash, Chris Gayle, Adrian Barath, Carlton Baugh, Darren Bravo, Dwayne Bravo, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Kemar Roach, Andre Russell, Shane Shillingford.

Sri Lanka: Kumar Sangakkara (capt), Mahela Jayawardene, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Tharanga Paranavitana, Thilan Samaraweera, Angelo Mathews, Prasanna Jayawardene, Ajantha Mendis, Suraj Randiv, Dammika Prasad, Thilan Thushara.

Umpires: Steve Davis (AUS) and Richard Kettleborough (ENG)

TV umpire: Asad Rauf (PAK)

Match referee: Alan Hurst (AUS)
