In the second ODI match against Team India, Australia emerged victorious by two wickets at the Adelaide Oval. With this, the hosts have clinched the series 2-1, with the third match yet to be played.
Having needed to chase a target of 265 runs, Cooper Connolly anchored Australia's innings against the "Men in Blue". The left-hander played an unbeaten knock of 61 runs off 53 balls, including five boundaries and a maximum.
The side chased the target in 46.2 overs at the loss of eight wickets.
Opening the innings, skipper Mitchell Marsh returned early after scoring 11 runs in 24 balls, including a boundary. Fellow opening batsman Travis Head accumulated 28 runs off 40 balls, with the help of a boundary and a maximum.
Coming to bat at number three, Matt Short smashed 74 runs after facing 78 balls. His knock was laced with four boundaries and two maximums. Matt Short, too, garnered 30 runs in 30 balls. During his knock, he smashed a boundary and a maximum.
Alex Carey departed on the score of nine runs after facing 17 balls. Mitchell Owen registered 36 runs off 23 balls before returning to the pavilion. He also smashed two boundaries and three maximums.
Xavier Bartlett and Mitchell Starc scored three and four runs after facing five and seven balls, respectively. Starc's innings also included a boundary.
Along with Connolly, Azam Zampa stayed unbeaten, facing one ball and without scoring any runs.
Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, and Washington Sundar bagged two wickets each. Bowling eight overs, Rana conceded 59 runs, whereas Sundar gave away 37 runs in seven overs.
Arshdeep conceded 41 runs in 8.2 overs. Mohammed Siraj and Axar Patel, too, claimed one wicket each. Completing his quota of 10 overs, Siraj was smashed for 49 runs, and Axar, on the other hand, leaked 52 runs in his spell of 10 overs.
Nitish Kumar Reddy went wicketless in the second ODI match against Australia. Bowling just three overs, Nitish was smashed for 24 runs.
With the series already in the bag, the Mitchell Marsh-led Australia will now lock horns against Team India for the third ODI, which will be played on October 25 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
