Team India's traditional opening batsman Rohit Sharma has expressed excitement ahead of the ODI series against Australia.
The "Men in Blue" will clash against the Aussies for the three-match ODI series under the captaincy of newly appointed skipper Shubman Gill. The series is scheduled to begin on October 19.
Speaking about playing against the Aussies during the CEAT Cricket Rating Awards in Mumbai, Rohit said that he loves playing with the Australians.
"I love that team, I love playing with them," said the right-hander.
Also, the One-Day Internationals (ODIs) is the only format that the 38-year-old is playing. Earlier, he hung up his boots in the T20Is and Test cricket.
So far, the "Hitman" has made 273 ODI appearances for India and has registered 11,168 runs under his name. He also has 58 half-centuries and 32 centuries in the format.
He has featured in 46 ODI matches against the Australians and has smashed 2407 runs, including eight tons and nine half-centuries.
Under Rohit, India secured the 2018 and 2023 ODI Asia Cup, the runners-up position in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup at home and the ICC Champions Trophy in Dubai this year. His captaincy in ICC tournaments, which saw Team India lose just one out of 23 games across three tournaments and capture two titles, is considered one of the greatest white-ball captaincy runs ever.
The first ODI will be played in Perth on October 19, while the second and third matches will be held on October 23 (Adelaide) and October 25 (Sydney), respectively.
After that, the five matches of the T20I series will be played on October 29 (Canberra), October 31 (Melbourne), November 2 (Hobart), November 6 (Gold Coast) and November 8 (Brisbane).
