In the first Test match against the West Indies, Team India posted a total of 121 runs for the loss of two wickets at stumps on Day 1 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

India's KL Rahul and skipper Shubman Gill remain unbeaten at the crease. Rahul and Gill will resume Day 2 on the scores of 53 and 18 runs, respectively.


Facing 114 balls, Rahul smashed six boundaries, whereas the captain managed to score just one boundary in 42 deliveries.



Earlier, opening the innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 36 runs after facing 54 balls. His knock was laced with seven boundaries. On the other hand, coming to bat at number three, Sai Sudharsan departed early on just seven runs in 19 balls.

Jayden Seales and skipper Roston Chase bagged one wicket each. Seales was smashed for 21 runs in his spell of eight overs, whereas Chase conceded 16 runs after bowling five overs.

Johann Layne, Justin Greaves, Jomel Warrican, and Khary Pierre went wicketless on Day 1 of the first Test match against India.

Pierre bowled nine overs and went for 25 runs, followed by Warrican, who leaked 21 runs in six overs. Greaves gave away 19 runs in four overs, and Layne conceded 14 runs in six overs.

Earlier in the day, the Caribbean side were bowled out for 162 runs in 44.1 overs. Justin Greaves was the highest run-scorer for the West Indies, as he scored 32 runs in 48 balls, including four boundaries. Shai Hope scored 26 runs off 36 balls, with the help of three boundaries.

Skipper Chase also accumulated 24 runs off 43 balls, including four boundaries. Apart from these three players, no West Indies player was able to touch the 20-run mark.

India's star pacer, Mohammed Siraj, bagged four wickets by conceding 40 runs in 14 overs. On the other hand, lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah claimed three wickets for 43 runs in 14 overs. Spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar registered two and one wickets to their names, respectively.

Nitish Kumar Reddy and Ravindra Jadeja failed to snap wickets on Day 1 of the first Test match. Bowling four overs, Reddy leaked 16 runs, while Jadeja was smashed for 15 runs in three overs.
